Runzas (Meat Pies)

Okay, I will write the recipe down here as to how they do everything but input what I had learned from while making these.

(Approximately 12 servings depending on how full you fill the dough.)

Ingredients
(For the dough what I do is go to the frozen section and buy frozen bread dough and let it thaw out. It makes the recipe A LOT simpler. You can use either the loaves and cut them to size or use the rolls.)

Dough:
4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, divided
1/2 cup sugar
2 (.25 ounce) packages active dry yeast
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup milk
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup shortening
2 eggs

FILLING:
1 pound lean ground beef
2 small onions, chopped
4 cups chopped cabbage
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce (or to taste)
Garlic (to taste)
Cheese (to liking)

Directions

1. Brown hamburger and large onion, garlic, salt and pepper. Chop up a head of cabbage. Add to hamburger mixture. Cook until cabbage is tender. Add half cup Worcestershire sauce to every 1 pound of hamburger.

2. Have bread thawing this whole time (sometimes good to start ahead of time easier if completely thawed or almost all the way thawed). If loaves cut/put into the size you want. Now flatten the roll and put the hamburger mixture and cheese in the middle of the roll and pinch closed. (now you have a roll with stuff in the middle).

3. Put on a pan and wash with egg. Bake at 350 degrees until dough is golden brown.
